Remote Storage replication for a dApp

Welcome to The Stack CafeTM — Remote Storage replication for a dApp – Graphite’s dApp Update: Storage Replication with Remote Storage… We recently heard some great news.

The team at Graphite – the dApp that can be used on the Blockstack ecosystem (which provides identity authentication, security, encryption and storage options etc.) to create documents sheets, conversations and more without giving up privacy – just pushed out an update to its dApp – Storage Replication with Remote Storage.

Below, you will find Graphite’s announcement – on remoteStorage’s forum – of the use of the remoteStorage application and protocol on its dApp (as used on the Blockstack ecosystem). For more on Graphite, see here, here, here and here.

As Graphite (built on top of Blockstack) notes, “…a RemoteStorage integration to allow for data replication[]” has been introduced on the dApp and “…the encryption methodology [from Blockstack] still works the same way as files encrypted and stored through Blockstack’s storage protocol – [Gaia].”

Remote Storage (open source) describes itself as an “open protocol for per-user storage on the Web” and as providing users to be able to:

  • Own your data
  • Stay in sync
  • Compatibility & choice
  • Go offline

Great addition to the dApp that provides the seminal features of the Blockstack ecosystem (e.g. identity, security, encryption (using the storage protocol of Blockstack – Gaia) while offering some easy to use integration of another data storage replication choice to its users – remoteStorage. Great job Team Graphite.

Note: If you do not have the Blockstack browser, please see this link (note – to enable the full functionality of any dApp (including Graphite) built for the Blockstack ecosystem (e.g., building a new internet, a decentralized internet, re-decentralizing the internet) you need to use the Blockstack browser). And, if you need more information on Graphite and how to use it, please visit this link.

Remember, per Blockstack – all information or data you create or store using a dApp via your Blockstack Browser is encrypted and securely stored in a decentralized manner. And, it is only accessible by you and only those you give access to your data and information.
